OWLS ALLOW TRIO TO GO

SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY have been busy farming out several of their younger players as they clear the decks ahead of their mountainous task of avoiding relegation.

Goalkeeper Stuart Jones has joined Torquay on loan to replace veteran Welshman Neville Southall. The ex-Everton idol has joined Bradford on a short-term basis and The Gulls needed to move quickly to fill the void.

Meanwhile, 19-year-olds Andrew Douglas and Dean Brennan have joined Blackpool on trial, with a view to permanent switches to Bloomfield Road. Striker Douglas is a former Arsenal trainee while Brennan is a midfielder.

The Seasiders have also taken Sunderland`s midfielder Chris Lumsden (pictured) on loan as they continue to embark on a recruiting drive.
