LAST CHANCE SALOON

PAUL MERSON has revealed that he will quit international football if Kevin Keegan does not include him in his squad for the friendly international against Argentina.

The Aston Villa attacker, who is arguably playing the best football of his career, said: "That is not saying `pick me or I retire`, that`s just being realistic."

"I`ve played a lot, lot worse in my career and been picked for England, but I know that when you are out of the picture, it is hard to force your way back in."

Merson`s chances of making the squad look promising, but a start is unlikely.

Liverpool midfielder Steven Gerrard and Aston Villa defender Gareth Barry are expected to receive senior call-ups.

Chelsea`s problematic midfield ace Dennis Wise will also be eager to find out if he has forced his way into Keegan`s thoughts.
