LEEDS PLAY DOWN DUBERRY ARREST
Duberry is not thought to have been involved in the attack, but was arrested and then questioned on February 18 in relation to events after the assault took place, but bailed without charge to return next week.
A club statement released on Thursday read:
"Following the incident that took place in Leeds on the night of Wednesday 12th January and the subsequent arrests of Jonathon Woodgate and Lee Bowyer, a number of Leeds United employees who had been in or around the Majestyk night-club on that evening have been interviewed, over a period of time, by the police.
The story in today`s newspapers regarding Michael Duberry is not new information, as he has not been interviewed by the police since 18th February 2000.
The current vacuum and drip feeding of information as if it were new news is unhelpful to everyone concerned, not only to Leeds United Football Club.
There is no suggestion that Michael Duberry was involved in the alleged racist attack that evening."
Three other Leeds players, Lee Bowyer, Jonathon Woodgate and reserve team striker Tony Hackworth, have also been questioned and bailed without charge, along with three other members of the public.
