DOMINGUEZ TURNS DOWN VALE MOVE

TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR winger Jose Dominguez has turned down a loan move to First Division Port Vale.

Vale manager Brian Horton had been looking to bring in some much needed quality to bolster his squad which is in the midst of a relegation dog-fight.

"I asked about him and he thought it over for a few days," said Horton. "He has decided to stay at Spurs.

"I have been chasing a few Premiership players who are on big money, but they seem to be happy to stay in the reserves or on the bench rather than play regular football.

"I must have contacted 15 to 20 managers in the last few days, but everyone is in the same boat. It is very frustarting, there is a shortage of quality players available."

Meanwhile, Horton has also had a look at two youngsters on trial, Nottingham Forest`s Mark Goodlad and Middlesbrough midfielder Michael Cummins.

Godlad, 19, is a goalkeeper, but has been told he can leave the City Ground, whilst Cummins, 21, is a Republic of Ireland Under 21 international.

Cummins is the reserve team-captain at The Riverside Stadium and has played for Boro twice this season.
