LARSSON ADMITS DEFEAT

CELTIC forward Henrik Larsson has admitted defeat in his race to be fit for a shock return to first team action in Sunday`s CIS Insurance Cup final.

The Swedish striker, who has been out with a broken leg since October, limped out of an Under-21 match after a clash with Hearts` Steve Fulton.

The 28-year-old had hoped to make a dramatic return after coming through a number of earlier reserve games, but he has now ruled himself out, saying: "I took a kick on the back of my left leg.

"The reason I was playing was to find out how good the leg was. I`ve got the answer that it`s still not okay to have these kind of kicks."

Larsson is unlikely to rush back for the remainder of The Bhoys` league programme, with them being all but out of the title race, and his next aim is to build up for a possible Euro 2000 recall with Sweden.
