CAREW CLOSES ON VALENCIA MOVE

IT is reported that Valencia have upped their bid to Rosenborg for striker John Carew to around £6.4 million, and that the player will be offered a lucrative contract with the Spaniards.

Borussia Dortmund had been expected to secure his services after offering him a huge contract, but the Norwegian is now expected to sign for the Primera Liga side within the next few days.

It is believed that Valencia have upped their bid to almost £6.5 million, with Carew getting £1.15 million a year, almost half a million pounds less than he would have got from Borussia.

Rosenborg director of football Rune Bratseth has admitted that discussions with Valencia have already taken place, although no deal has been settled yet.

The player has a clause in his contract which entitles him to a share of the transfer fee, therefore meaning that the difference in wages is levelled out.
