LIVERPOOL LOOK TO MURPHY
Johnsen has already had a trial at Liverpool and impressed in training, but his chances of catching the eye in a match were dashed when The Reds` reserve clash against Manchester United`s second string was cancelled.
The Merseyside giants tried to bring him back to Anfield, but Start coach Jan Halvor Halvorsen rejected the move because it was too close to the start of the season.
"Being so close to the start of the season here, it is out of the question to send Espen to Liverpool to train with and play for them. He will stay here with the rest of the team. Now we have to think of ourselves and our campaign," Halvorsen said.
Gerard Houllier could now follow up his interest in Murphy, but he could cost more than he would be willing to pay, with Tranmere in a stronger position financially after reaching the Worthington Cup final.
