BORO SET TO SPLASH CASH

MIDDLESBROUGH look set to launch into the transfer market as soon as the window is open again in the summer.

Boro assistant boss Viv Anderson, said that the Teessiders have targeted at least four players who they have been watching for a considerable amount of time.

"We`ve highlighted the players we need to strengthen us," said Anderson. "We have seven or eight targets and will try to bring in at least four of them in the summer."

Bryan Robson has been boosted by the cash injection from American cable company NTL, and has already been linked with numerous players, most recently German internationals Sebastien Diesler and Oliver Neuville.

Although admitting an interest in the pair, Anderson dismissed that they were about to make a move for the them.

Middlesbrough chairman, Steve Gibson, has also promised to invest the NTL money - believed to be around £10-£15 million - in the team and said: "The additional funding and NTL`s expertise will strengthen the club and open up new and exciting possibilities for us, the benefits from which will help the club to achieve its ambition to be a major force in the Premier League."
