MIDGLEY STAYING IN TOWN

YOUNG Ipswich striker Neil Midgley has been told by George Burley that he will be offered a new contract in the summer when he returns from his loan spell at Kidderminster.

The 21-year-old striker, who shares a name with a former high profile referee, made a scoring debut for Town in November in their 3-1 victory over West Brom.

Despite this flying start, Midgley didn`t get many more chances in the Ipswich first eleven and the signing of Marcus Stewart in February, further limited his first team opportunities - although he has been assured that his future lies at Portman Road.

"I was happy to come here on loan as I wasn`t getting in the first team at Ipswich," said Midgley. "But I still see my future at Portman Road and have been told a new contract will be there waiting for me in the summer.

"I had a spell on loan at Luton earlier in the season and made my Ipswich debut not long after coming back. Hopefully more regular first-team football can get me ready for an even better go at it with Town."

Midgley made his debut for Kidderminster on Saturday when Jan Molby`s side virtually sealed the Conference`s promotion spot with a 2-0 victory over Rushden & Diomands.

"Obviously a move to a Football League club would have been favourite, but these are exciting times at Kidderminster with them being top of the league," Midgley added.

"All the other players are part-time and they train on a Monday and Thursday nights. I‚ÇÖm with them then and the rest of the time I train back at Ipswich."
