SPURS FANS WOULD BLAME SUGAR NOT SOL

EXCLUSIVE
THE Tottenham Action Group have warned chairman Sir Alan Sugar that they will hold him responsible if star man Sol Campbell leaves White Hart Lane in the near future.

Spokesman Joff Wild, in an exclusive interview with planetfootball.com, asserts that Sugar must shoulder the blame if Campbell quits the Londoners, in the wake of comments made by the England defender over the weekend.

"If Sol does leave, I don`t think any Spurs fan will blame him," said Wild. "Everyone, down to the last man, will blame Sugar because it will have been Sugar that has forced Sol out.

"Teddy Sheringham left Tottenham saying exactly the same things as Sol is saying now - that we do not have the ambition. Before Sheringham, it was Klinsmann - he left saying exactly the same things, and this is not a new situation. It has been happening at Tottenham for a number of years now."

Wild is clearly unhappy with the way in which Spurs` season has unfolded, following the miserable 6-1 thrashing at Newcastle which ended the club`s trophy hopes way back in December.

"The fans are just totally and utterly sick at the way this club is being run from top to bottom," he stormed. "We thought we were making progress under George Graham and it turns out we`re not. "Most fans would blame the chairman for this situation, rather than the manager. Mr Sugar has not been entirely generous with the purse-strings, so we`ve stagnated. But, obviously, Graham does have an Arsenal background so it`s always going to be hard for him at Spurs."

Campbell, clearly a player who loves playing for Spurs, has issued veiled criticism of the hierarchy at White Hart Lane, and the supporters have wasted little time in supporting his beliefs.

"We desperately need a change of direction," added Wild. "We need Alan Sugar to make decisions for the good of Tottenham - and not his shareholding. If he is not willing to make those decisions, he should stand down and another man should take over.

"Then, if George Graham can`t do the job after being given the full backing of the directors, we`ll have to look at his position."
