HEANEY IN THE WARS AGAIN?

DARLINGTON winger Neil Heaney appears to have been in the wars again, according to unconfirmed reports circulating around Bootham Crescent.

York held promotion-chasing Darlo to a goalless draw in the big match in Division Three, but it was often a niggly affair and it seems as though the bad feeling may have spilled out, after the match.

It is alleged that former Leeds defender Chris Fairclough was involved in a heated argument with Heaney in the tunnel, and that the former Manchester City wide-man was left nursing unspecified injuries.

Fairclough was an unused substitute in the match, but Heaney angered the home side with a reckless challenge on Darren Edmondson, and it is rumoured that the usually mild-mannered defender became embroiled in a fracas at the end of the game.

The referee had received a police escort as he left the field, as the match reached a stormy finale.

The Yorkshire police are said to be investigating the alleged incident and it is the last thing that Heaney will want after crashing into the advertising hoardings, and suffering facial injuries, against Hull only a few weeks ago.

York star Christian Fox would only say afterwards that his manager, Terry Dolan, had told the players not to comment on the alleged post-match incident.
