Totti, who has already expressed his dream to play at one of the big Northern Italian clubs, was rumoured to be considering a move to the Rossoneri after becoming disenchanted with Roma.

The presence of Japanese superstar Hidetoshi Nakata - who has proved himself more than capable of filling the role behind the two strikers that Totti excels in - and the lack of silverware for Roma, had led to strong rumours that the mercurial Italian international would leave for pastures new.

However, after hotly denying that his heart lies anywhere but the Roman club, Totti has continued to disappoint this season, and Roma may still decide to cash in on the undoubtedly brilliant forward.

The fact that Milan have seemingly cooled their interest in Totti has reinforced rumours that they may bid for Monaco star Marcelo Gallardo - involved in a skirmish that has left the player considering his future in French football.
