COLE BLASTS SHEARER

ANDY COLE has blasted international colleague Alan Shearer, stating that he does not think that the England captain should be guaranteed a starting place.

Cole, who scored his 22nd goal of the season against Middlesbrough on Monday, fears that his own chances are being limited because of the stance taken by England coach Kevin Keegan.

"The talk is always about who is going to play with Shearer," said Cole. "I`ve got no doubts I could work with anyone, but I don`t think it should be a case of who will work with Shearer

"There are too many good forwards in England to say you can only work with one person.

"There are lots of potential partnerships and don`t forget that Alan could get injured before the summer."

This is just the latest episode in a long running feud between Cole and Shearer, which began when the Newcastle forward criticised the former Magpie hot-shot in his autobiography, which was printed last year.
