HENRY EYES CHAMPIONS LEAGUE SPOT

THIERRY HENRY has spoken of the importance of the victory over Leeds at the weekend in regard to Arsenal gaining a place in next season’s Champions League.

Speaking to L’Equipe, the former Juventus star said: "Psychologically, the victory was very important. Before the match, we knew that if we didn’t win then we would not have a chance of getting into the Champions League."

The fleet footed Frenchman also spoke of Thursday’s clash with Lens, who are reportedly fearful of his talents. "Everyone knows that when there are open spaces, I like it," Henry claimed.

He continued by giving his opinion on what tactics Gunners manager Arsene Wenger may deploy, saying: "I don’t think we will play a defensive formation, relying on counter attacks."

He also divulged his thoughts on what tactics Lens are likely to use, saying: "They will play a different way to the last match. At Highbury, they initially came to defend, but after we scored they caused us some problems.

"This is why I find their position in Le Championnat somewhat strange because in Europe they have produced some excellent performances."
