OGGY TO TAKE UP COACHING ROLE

VETERAN Coventry keeper Steve Ogrizovic has announced that he will hang up his gloves at the end of the season to take up a coaching role at Highfield Road.

The 42-year-old is set to take over the Academy Under-17 side and is delighted by his new challenge.

Speaking to the club‚ÇÖs official website, Ogrizovic said: "I considered dropping down a league and playing on but this was such a fantastic opportunity and it means that I can stay at Coventry City where I have thoroughly enjoyed my last 16 years.

"The club have offered me the opportunity to coach the club‚ÇÖs 16-19-year-olds along with George Mackie and take charge of the Under-17 side and I feel this is a great opportunity to further my career.

"It is particularly exciting because it means I can coach outfield rather than just specialise in working with goalkeepers."

Meanwhile, Coventry boss Gordon Strachan was spotted at Tuesday evening‚ÇÖs clash between Ipswich and Crystal Palace, fuelling the fire that the wily Scot could be stepping up his interest in Eagles midfielder Hayden Mullins.
