KANOUTE THREATENS LYON STRIKE

WEST HAM'S loan star Frederic Kanoute has issued a warning to his French club Lyon - saying he will only play for his Championnat side again if the manager leaves.

The talented striker was involved in a massive bust-up with Lyon coach Bernard Lancombe that hastened his loan move to London with West Ham.

Kanoute has been an instant hit at Upton Park, scoring on his debut against Wimbledon and notching up a second in the 5-0 rout at Coventry - but overtures to sign the player have been met with a £6 million fee from Lyon.

Kanoute admitted that he will strike rather than play for Lacombe, saying: "It's very frustrating at Lyon and if I go back I won't play.

"If the manager leaves I can see myself playing for them again, but I don't think he's going to. The price just seems to be getting bigger. I'm very angry they have increased it."
