BRIDGES OUT OF UNDER-21 SQUAD

LEEDS UNITED striker Michael Bridges has been forced to withdraw from the England Under-21 squad with groin trouble.

The 21-year-old will miss the tournament, that starts in Slovakia later this month, after pulling out following a medical examination on Sunday.

The former Sunderland hot-shot will be replaced by Blackburn Rovers forward Matt Jansen, who has been in the international wilderness for over a year.

Jansen will travel with the rest of the 20-man squad when they fly out on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Whites star Harry Kewell is set to miss Australia’s fixture with Paraguay next month after allegedly coming into conflict with the International Entertainment Corporation.

Kewell is rumoured to be upset with comments made by IEC director Dominic Galati – who is rumoured to have stated that Australia’s top stars had demanded massive appearance money to play in a friendly game against Manchester United.
