HUGHES SET TO GET NEW DEAL
NEWCASTLE manager Bobby Robson is set to offer promising defender Aaron Hughes a new contract.
The Northern Ireland international has pleased the former England manager with his performances at left back toward the end of last season, but is also equally at home in the centre of defence.
Robson spoke of his delight at the progress Hughes has made, saying: "Aaron has done very well for me and he deserves some reward.
"He has played far better than we imagined he would and probably better than he thought he could. I think it‚ÇÖs important that we look at his contract soon."
Meanwhile, newly promoted Scottish League side Elgin City have bought 1000 seats from Newcastle‚ÇÖs St James‚ÇÖ Park stadium.
