CLUBS CLAMOUR FOR GUEVARA

IPSWICH and Coventry are being credited with an interest in Amado Guevara, a talented Honduran international, who plays for Motagua.

Argentinian agent Marcelo Houseman has confirmed that a number of clubs are clamouring for the services of the midfielder, with the player`s representative dropping several hints as to where his client may be showing off his talents next season.

"There are two English clubs, one French and now there is a team from Germany that was champion of Europe - now the Champions League - interested in the services of Amado."

The German side must be either Hamburg, Borussia Dortmund or Bayern Munich, and they will watch him play again soon, while Houseman also gave clues to the identity of the Premiership clubs, who have targeted the player.

"Two English clubs wish to have Guevara, but I do not want to present their names because the directors of both teams have requested me to be secretive," he said.

"I do have an excellent relationship with the people of Ipswich Town because, three years ago, I sold the Argentinian Mauricio Taricco to them, who they ended up transferring to Tottenham for four million dollars."

The midfielder is a former Under-20 international, who played in the World Championships in Qatar. He has already played in Spain, for Real Valladolid back in the 1995/96 campaign, and he has been linked previously with moves to Vasco da Gama, Flamengo and several Major League Soccer sides.

And Coventry chairman Bryan Richardson will go to San Pedro Sula in order to watch the up-coming international between Honduras and Haiti.

The chief purpose of Richardson`s trip is to further City`s intentions to bring Ivan Guerrero to Highfield Road. The left-sided starlet looks set to miss out on the Olympics, as he instead looks to make a name for himself in The Premiership.

"Ivan will have the last word," confirmed Houseman, but the player seems to have already made his mind up to put Coventry before Honduras.
