MY FUTURE LIES ABROAD - GAZZA

FORMER England international Paul Gascoigne has revealed that he will definitely move abroad in a bid to prolong his football career.

The 33-year-old Middlesbrough midfielder admitted that he is pondering offers to play in America and Australia.

"I will definitely go abroad but I just don't know where or when," Gascoigne told Rangers Monthly. "It could be America or Australia - I haven't decided yet."

"I have been offered jobs in both of those countries, so I will have to think seriously about my future.

Gascoigne did state that he is happy at The Teessiders though and hopes to play out the 2000/2001 season at the Riverside.

"I'm going to see what happens at the end of the season and talk to the manager Bryan Robson but I definitely want to play football as long as I can.

"I'm enjoying myself at Middlesbrough. In my first season we won promotion. The season after that we finished in our highest position for 25 years.

Gascoigne also hit out at referees in the interview claiming that he is singled-out for special treatment from the men in the middle.

"Without a doubt I get picked on by referees," Gascoigne added. "Some of the decisions on me have been ridiculous. Five guys recently got sent off for using their elbows in incidents similar to my foul."

"They were only given a one-match ban which starts a week later and a £200 fine. I get a five-match ban which starts six weeks later because they knew I wouldn't be returning until then - and I got a £5,000 fine.

"It has been the same everywhere I go. Refs always single me out because they know it will get them noticed.

"Look at the time I got booked for picking up Dougie Smith's yellow card at Ibrox and booking him. That just sums it up.
