HEDMAN`S CAREER BLOOMING AT COVENTRY

MAGNUS HEDMAN has matured since his move to Coventry City and Premiership football, according to Swedish goalkeeping coach Lennart Ljung, who says that he has gained valuable experience since arriving at Highfield Road in 1997.

Ljung said: "He keeps his concentration during the whole match and is much better at challenging in the air. Magnus is more decisive and keeps the ball longer in tight situations."

Hedman's Sky Blues career started off in difficult fashion, but The Swede has since gained the respect of his team-mates.

Hedman said: "The full-backs always blame someone else when they make a mistake.

"But one time, away to Crystal Palace in 1998, I got so angry at my backline I ran half the pitch and shouted at them.

"I remember that Paul Williams had to take it all and other defenders were embarrassed."

 Sweden's manager Tommy Soderberg is also pleased with Hedman's growth in England.

Soderberg said: "He has matured as a keeper and a person. He is also about to become a father," referring to Hedman's wife Magdalena, who is pregnant.
