SIBIERSKI FOCUSES IN ON LENS

ANTOINE SIBIERSKI has joined Lens on a four year deal from Nantes to boost the striking power of the Uefa Cup semi-finalists, having won Le Championnat in 1998 it was expected that they would continue their good form but they have fallen on hard times.

Having been in a relegation place for the first half of last season, Lens pulled themselves together to finish fifth in the league.

The 26-year-old scored 24 goals last season for Nantes and still had one year left on his contract although it seems that his club has decided to cash in on him rather than risk Sibierski going on a Bosman next year.

The fee was said to be in the region of 23 million francs (£2.25 million) although details were not released.
