TAIBI PRICE TAG TOO HIGH

MANCHESTER UNITED goalkeeper Massimo Taibi has revealed that he fears he has been priced out of a move away from Old Trafford following the Red Devils putting a £4 million price tag on his head.

The Italian arrived at Manchester in a £4.5 million deal last September, but a series of disappointing displays, which saw him concede 11 goals in four games, saw him loaned to Reggina.

Now, as he looks for a permanent move back to his homeland, he has admitted that he doesn't think that Reggina or Napoli, who are also looking to sign him and are his preferred choice of destination, can afford the transfer fee.

This leaves him in limbo following the signing of Fabien Barthez by United, virtually ending his Old Trafford career after being pushed to fourth in the pecking order behind the Frenchman, Mark Bosnich and Raimond van der Gouw.

"I want to be important to the club where I play," he said. "I am sure I can do that, as I showed with Reggina. But United have asked a great deal of money for me.

"I doubt if Reggina or Napoli could afford it. If it was up to me, I'd move to Napoli."
