WEAH SET FOR FRENCH RETURN?

MONACO have contacted Milan with a view to taking Liberian legend George Weah to France, although Chelsea were looking to finalise a deal with their on-loan star.

Weah made quite an impact at Stamford Bridge having joined in January, on loan from the Italian giants, as The Blues were having goalscoring problems, with Chris Sutton not able to justify his £10 million price tag.

Chelsea also faced the prospect of another season without long-term injury victim, Pierluigi Casiraghi, and with Gianluca Vialli retiring from first-team football, it left Gianfranco Zola to carry the can.

It would be another smack in the face for the Premiership if Weah decides on a return to France, with Monaco keen to re-sign a player who has already proved his world class ability across Europe.
