TUGAY THREATENS TO QUIT IBROX

RANGERS midfielder Kerimoglou Tugay has issued an ultimatum to Dick Advocaat: Play me or I will leave.

Tugay has taken time out from his preparations for tonight's Euro 2000 match between Turkey and Sweden to issue the threat to the Ibrox manager.

The former Galatasaray player, who joined Rangers for £1.2 million, has struggled to establish himself as a first team regular in Advocaat's team, making only six starts last term following his mid-season move.

"I am a good player and I will prove that to you just as soon as I am given the chance," Tugay told Sports Record. "I have had one-to-one talks with the Rangers manager just as other players have and he has told me my chance will come."

Tugay is determined to make the grade in Scotland, and remains certain that he can prove himself to the Ibrox faithful. He has expressed his fondness for the Scottish game and its fans, and said that he is more than happy with life in Scotland.

"It is always the coach's decision whether or not a player gets a game and I understand that perfectly well, but I want to play all the time. I didn't go to Rangers to sit and wait.

"They are a massive club and I want to play my part. I know it takes time for a player to settle with a new team and time is also needed for him to get to know the other players.

"I am positive I will be playing regularly for Rangers next season because I believe in myself."

29-year-old Tugay, one of Turkey's most experienced internationals with over 50 caps, is hoping to be promoted from the bench for tonight's Group B clash against Sweden in Eindhoven.

"We can beat Sweden, I'm sure of that. I'm confident we will make it to the next phase and I am also convinced I will achieve my goals at club level with Rangers."
