BOGARDE TO HOLD TALKS OVER FUTURE

DUTCH international defender Winston Bogarde is expected to travel to Barcelona within the next week to hold talks with current coach Llorenc Serra Ferrer over his future at the club.

Chelsea are believed to have offered the Spanish club £4.8 million for the 29-year-old, as Gianluca Vialli looks to replace Frank Leboeuf, who is expected to leave the club this summer. However, his transfer clause is considerably higher than that sum and, although the Londoners have reportedly agreed terms with the player, everything is dependent upon Barcelona.

Now Bogarde wants to know what his future holds at Camp Nou before he commits himself to a move to the Premiership. Serra Ferrer is understood to be prepared to allow the Dutchman to leave, rather than risk losing him on a free transfer when his contract expires at the end of next season.

Bogarde, who missed out on Holland's Euro 2000 campaign through lack of fitness, is following the tournament closely and watched his nation's opening game against Denmark on Sunday evening. If Bogarde is allowed to leave Barcelona, a transfer to Chelsea will most likely be put on hold until after Euro 2000.
