JOAO PINTO TOUTED AROUND EUROPE

PORTUGUESE star Joao Pinto is being touted around most of the top clubs in Europe, with Liverpool, Everton and Barcelona now being linked in the foreign press with moves for the Benfica forward.

After Chelsea`s managing director Colin Hutchinson revealed that the London side were offered the man who scored the second goal against England, other clubs are rumoured to be possible destinations for the 28-year-old, with his agents working overtime.

"It is true that we were given an option on Monday before the England game," confirmed Hutchison. "We looked at the situation and were first in line."

Newcastle were said to have offered the player a three-year contract, but it seems as though most of the pressing has been from the player`s side, rather than the other way round, and the speculation is reaching fever pitch, even though he will not make a decision on his future until after the tournament.

Barcelona, Everton and Liverpool are now also being mentioned as showing an interest in Joao Pinto, with agents for the Merseyside duo said to have made contact with the Portuguese camp recently. Fiorentina have also been trailing the player, who is effectively available on a free transfer.
