HASSELBAINK: `SALVA CAN HELP ATLETICO`
The £15 million record signing has told the Spanish press that he thinks Atletico's purchase of Salva was the right move for the recently relegated club adding: "he is very good but a totally different player to me.
"We both have good and bad things and I hope that he can help Atletico bounce straight back to the Primera Liga.
"I had to think of my future," the former Leeds star explained when asked why he left the club.
"I am 28-years old, and I have to make the best of what is left of my career. I cannot play in the second.
"If I was 18 then it would be a different story but for me I have to play at the top level.
"I leave many friends here. For me Atletico Madrid will always be a great club and I am going to be supporting there return to the top.
"Hopefully they will make that return this year. The relegation was very painful to me but what could I do? Nothing. I can just hope that they bounce back."
