GAZZA STILL HOT PROPERTY

CONTRASTING reports have once more suggested that Paul Gascoigne is set to leave Middlesbrough with the final mooted destination either Scotland, Australia or even third division Darlington.

Gascoigne looks certain to leave Bryan Robson's Middlesbrough after it became clear that the club are prepared to allow the mercurial star to go.

However, there are now suggestions that both Kilmarnock in Scotland, and the fast-growing Australian Premiership want to resurrect the former England international's career.

Soccer Australia chief executive David Wooley admitted that he would love to see the former Lazio star move to Oceania, adding: If Gazza has problems at Middlesbrough then we would love him down here and I'm sure we could find him a club.

"The Australian public is very football orientated and Gazza would appeal to them in particular because of his flair.

"The Aussies love a character and Gazza is certainly that. I think he would be a real success if he came here - extremely popular.

"Glasgow Rangers have just bought a 51% stake in one of our clubs, Northern Spirit, an no doubt they will be encopuraging Paul to think about moving here. I know he was very popular at Rangers and they still have an influence with him.

Kilmarnock have already got former team-mates Ally McCoist and Ian Durrant, and would love to bring Gascoigne to the Scottish top flight - a league that saw the midfield star shine whilst at Rangers.

Kilmarnock boss Bobby Williamson said: "If Paul Gascoigne is fit and available any manager would be interested."

Darlinton have also thrown their hat into the ring, with out-spoken chairman George Reynolds stating: "I could get him playing football well again and enjoying it. I feel sorry for him. I don't see him as a bad person.

"No one has guided him properly, I could do that. He just gets slaughtered by everyone. I would tell him what he could do and that Darlington's the place for him."
