MOLS TO FACE ANOTHER KNEE OPERATION?

MICHAEL MOLS faces another operation on his injured knee which might rule him out of Rangers' Champions League qualifying round tie.

The Dutch striker's comeback is likely to be delayed for another three weeks after he needed another knee scan when he arrived with team-mates in Amsterdam for pre-season training.

He went off with club physio Jan Goueswaard to have the check-up, but admitted that another operation may be necessary to correct the pain he feels in the knee following training sessions.

Mols said: "I may need another operation to clear my knee. The problem is that my knee reacts after every training session.

"There is a little fluid and the knee always stays warm after I've done some work."

The 29-year-old signed for the Scottish champions from Dutch side Utrecht in a £4 million deal last year, but has not played since the Champions League group match at Bayern Munich in November, where he damaged the cruciate ligament in the injured knee.

Mols had returned to pre-season training, and was expected to be available for the friendly against Germany's FC Bocholt, but instead made a visit to the knee specialist who treated him last season in the Dutch capital.

Mols's latest set-back comes as Rangers await their Champions League tie, against the winners of the macth between FBK Kaunas of Lithuania and Bosnia's NK Brotnjo, and the Dutchman is now likely to miss the clash.
