ROYCE ROLLS TO FILBERT STREET

LEICESTER`S search for a goalkeeper has ended with the signing of Charlton shot-stopper Simon Royce on a Bosman Ruling free transfer.

The 28-year-old keeper becomes Peter Taylor`s third signing in eight days after full backs Gary Rowett of Birmingham and Blackburn`s Callum Davidson moved to the East Midlands last week.

The Foxes have been searching for a keeper since Pegguy Arphexad moved to Anfield on a Bosman move and had an offer turned down for Wycombe`s Roy Carroll.

"Simon is someone I have known for a long time - right back to my own days as manager at Southend," Taylor said. "He's a very positive goalkeeper, agile and sweeps up very well behind the defence.

"Ideally, I would like three goalkeepers by the start of the season and it is up to them to try to put pressure on Tim Flowers.

"With Pegguy moving on, it was important we have more strength in depth with our goalkeepers and Simon is an excellent addition to our squad."
