SABER`S FUTURE IN LIMBO

ABDELILAH SABER is facing an uncertain future over a move from his Portuguese club, Sporting Lisbon, after talks with Italian Serie A side Napoli broke down.

The two clubs could not agree to a transfer fee and the Moroccan international is hoping there is still interest in him from English Premiership sides.

Both West Ham and Southampton have expressed interest in Saber, with The Hammers said to be set to give a firm offer to Sporting's demands for him this week.

Despite his interest, West Ham boss Harry Redknapp has admitted that the club cannot afford the Moroccan's asking price and may have to halt on a swoop.

With Australian international Hayden Foxe on trial at West Ham, his signing would leave even less money to puchase Saber or any other players at Upton Park.

Southampton are another club that might have interested Saber, especially with Moroccan players Hassan Kachloul and Tahar El-Khalej already at The Dell, but whether Saints boss Glenn Hoddle will follow up his absorption is doubtful.

The Moroccan now faces a wait-and-see situation regarding his immediate future.
