MORRIS GIVEN COMMUNITY SERVICE

CHELSEA midfield starlet Jody Morris has been ordered to complete 150 hours community service, as punishment for his involvement in a street brawl at the end of last year.

England Under-21 international Morris was sentenced alongside his friend and former Chelsea colleague Paul Quinn. Both men were ordered to pay £500 compensation and Quinn, a former Chelsea apprentice, was jailed for two months for his part in the attack.

The two men were sentenced for an attack on a Mr Daryl Hobbs on December 8 last year, which left Mr Hobbs needing hospital treatment for his injuries.

Morris left court without comment after the decision, although Chelsea assistant manager Gwyn Williams said: "Jody Morris wishes to apologise for his part in the incident.

"He will be disciplined by the club under the terms of his contract, but this will be a private matter between the club and himself."
