BULLOCK ON TRIAL AT MACCELSFIELD

FORMER Barnsley goalkeeper Tony Bullock is set to join Third Division Macclesfield Town on a trial basis, as he looks to resurrect his playing career.

Bullock agreed with manager Dave Bassett that he would leave Oakwell at the end of last season, having reached the end of his current deal with the club, and throughout the close season he has been seeking a new team that will offer him the opportunity of first team football.

Bullock slipped further down the Barnsley pecking order last season, when manager Dave Bassett signed Crystal Palace keeper Kevin Miller as first choice cover for the injured Dave Watson.

This confirmed to Bullock that he would not get the opportunity of playing in the first team at Barnsley, which meant that he would miss out on the bonuses that he requires to support his young family. He has now agreed to join Macclesfield on trial next week.
