"The desire of the player to join AC Milan, means that Real Madrid has not decided to put an obstacle in the way of the crossing, although we must consider the extraordinary professionalism that the player has shown at any moment in the white shirt of Madrid."
Redondo will sign a three year deal at the San Siro, worth a reported wage of 800 million pesetas, making him one of the highest paid footballers in the world.
Milan vice president Adriano Galliani confirmed the move, but stated that their spending was now likely to be at an end.
"Signing Redondo effectively brings our transfer activity to an end," Galliani said, and added that it reminded him of the signing of Dutch legend Frank Rijkaard.
"They didn't want him (Rijkaard) to go. The same thing happened yesterday outside the Bernabeu. We had to leave through the back door in the end but it all went okay."
