FRY NEEDS TO SELL TO LAND HUNT
The news comes after Posh striker Howard Forinton decided to turn down a £300,000 move to Third Division Plymouth Argyle during the summer, which would have provided Fry with the gap in his finances to complete a deal for Hunt, who he worked with at Barnet, Southend and Birmingham City.
Having completed the signing of Richard Forsyth on a free transfer from Blackpool during the close season, Fry is now hoping to keep Hunt at the club for another week to give him time to find the cash he would need to sign the player.
"If nobody goes, there is no chance on God's earth of us signing Jonathan Hunt," said the outspoken manager.
"We have got a press day coming up and hopefully I will bump into the chairman then and have a word about it. But I don't think we will be able to get him in.
"I'll try and drag out the trial period for another week, but at the end of the day Hunty has got to look after himself."
However, Hunt himself has stated a desire to sign for The Posh and is hoping that the club can free up the required funds to make his stay permanent, having admitted that he has been disappointed with the number of clubs making him an offer during the summer.
"I have had some interest from some other clubs, but not that many," said Hunt. "Of course I would like to remain playing at a high standard, but I have a house in London and my main concern is to move south."
