DEPORTIVO COMPLETE TRISTAN DEAL

DEPORTIVO LA CORUNA have completed the signing of Diego Tristan from Real Mallorca and will unveil him at a press conference at the Riazor stadium on Wednesday night.

Tristan had seemed set for a move to Real Madrid after reaching an agreement with Lorenzo Sanz in the run-up to Champions League winners' presidential elections but with Sanz not being re-elected, the deal collapsed.

However, late on Tuesday, Depor reached an agreement with Mallorca and Tristan's representatives which will see the Galician club pay 2,400 million pesetas (£8.71 million).

The player will sign an eight-year contract, which has a clause in it affording him a bonus based on the amount of goals he scores.  It is likely that the club have now finished their transfer business for the forthcoming season.

Tristan will travel to Coruna and be presented to the rest of the team before appearing at the press conference this evening, and it is expected that there will be a great deal of pressure on him in becoming the most expensive signing in Depor's history.

The press conference will also feature the 36 players in Depor's squad for this season in which they will compete in La Liga, the Copa del Rey and the Champions League and the squad includes nine new faces, including Tristan, Caesar Sampaio, Aldo Duscher, Jose Molina and Emerson.
