PEACOCK LINKED WITH MOVE TO EAGLES

BLACKBURN ROVERS defender Darren Peacock could be set to join First Division rivals Crystal Palace after being told he was surplus to requirements at Ewood Park by Rovers boss Graeme Souness.

The former QPR and Newcastle United defender was all set to move to Portsmouth but the deal collapsed due to Peacock‚ÇÖs wage demands.

Peacock who was one of the top earners at Blackburn, on #10,000 a week, has not figured in any action for Rovers during pre-season and Palace are hopeful that he will jump at the chance of playing first team football.

The Eagles hope that Blackburn will let Peacock leave Ewood Park on a free transfer to get him off the high wage bill at the club.

Palace boss Alan Smith said: "It could be a possibility."
