BAGGIO PONDERS MOVE ABROAD
33-year-old Baggio is determined to continue playing football at the highest level, and seems resigned to the fact that this would require a move away from his native Italy.
"I will play for two or three more years," stated the Italian international. "If I wanted to stop, I would have stopped last spring."
Other than Inter, the 'divine ponytail' has played for Vicenza, Fiorentina, Juventus, Milan and Bologna during his illustrious career, but he is now set to start a new chapter with a move abroad.
Udinese looked set to secure the services of the striker for next season, but Spanish clubs Barcelona and Deportivo La Coruna came in with late offers, and Baggio is now considering the options available to him.
"As for the question whether anyone wants me, ask my manager Vittorio Petrone how many teams called him," he added.
"The problem is the conditions that I put on any deal. It's not only a money problem. I would like to play for a top team, try to win something of importance, and try to win back a place in the national team.
"If I am going to stay so far from home, I would prefer to go to another place in Europe, where maybe I could win."
He has now instructed his manager to sound out clubs throughout Europe, and has said that is confident he is in excellent condition to make an immediate impact on whichever club it is he ends up joining.
"I understand that I have to accept some conditions. So I told my manager that I can accept France, England or Spain. Now he's working on this.
"I'm training every day. I'm not in a hurry. When the right opportunity comes along I will say yes," concluded Baggio.
