Sky Sports Fantasy Football: Premier League team of the week
Wednesday 7 October 2015 08:30, UK
We look at which players make this week's top-scoring Sky Sports Fantasy Football side after a host of big names failed to deliver again.
It was another week for the bargain hunters to prevail, with Troy Deeney, the joint 70th most expensive player at £7.1m, the highest valued player in the line-up.
Few Sky Sports Fantasy Football bosses were exempt from disappointment as the two most popular players, Sergio Aguero and Eden Hazard, fired blanks, with the former suffering a first-half injury.
However, Riyad Mahrez is now the game's third most popular player and added a couple of assists to his four goals, while fourth most popular pick Christian Benteke scored a stunner at Old Trafford on Saturday Night Football.
Darren Randolph (£3.7m)
West Ham fans would have been concerned after seeing No 1 Adrian handed a three-match and his replacement then concede four times at home to Bournemouth, but Randolph has responded with back-to-back clean sheets.
Eric Dier (£5.7m)
The defender turned defensive-midfielder put in a man-of-the-match display, relentlessly protecting Tottenham's backline to help them secure a first win of the season at Sunderland.
Jose Fonte (£6.5m)
Southampton have maintained their impressive defensive record with Fonte at the heart of their defence, with a third clean sheet of the season at West Brom.
Virgil van Dijk (£6.1m)
The former Celtic man produced what Ronald Koeman described as a "perfect debut" as he secured the MOTM award in keeping West Brom's frontmen quiet.
Gabriel (£6m)
Per Mertesacker's replacement continues to make a case for being a first-choice starter at centre-back for Arsenal, with a third clean sheet in as many appearances since filling in for the injured Germany international.
Dimitri Payet (£6.2m)
The French midfielder warned of his intent with a goal and an assist in his first two Premier League games and then really announced himself on Monday Night Football, bagging a brace to leave Newcastle rooted to the foot of the table.
Daley Blind (£6.8m)
Fantasy bosses may be irked by not getting the defensive points recognition for his new role at centre-back, but Saturday Night Football's performance eased frustrations as he broke the deadlock and secured his second MOTM award of the season.
Riyad Mahrez (£6m)
The Leicester winger makes his fourth appearance in the team of the week, having provided a brace of assists in his side's 3-2 comeback victory over Aston Villa on Super Sunday, also seeing him remain as the game's leading scorer.
Wes Hoolahan (£5.5m)
Norwich's playmaker broke the deadlock in Saturday's impressive win over Bournemouth before providing his fourth assist of the season, a joint league high along with David Silva.
Steven Naismith (£6.7m)
With the Scotsman failing to start a Premier League game this season, just 1.54 per cent of Fantasy bosses would have been pleased to see him make an early substitute appearance against Chelsea, but that minority were left celebrating as he bagged a perfect hat-trick to sink the champions.
Troy Deeney (£7.1m)
Watford's top goalscorer for the last three seasons may not have opened his account for the current campaign but he helped his side secure their first win, setting up Odion Ighalo's winner and claiming the MOTM award in the process.
