WARD SIGNS FOR BANTAMS
The former Barnsley hitman turned down The Bantams on Thursday evening after lengthy contract talks with City chairman Geoffrey Richmond, but changed his mind overnight and has now signed a four-year deal.
He then travelled to Valley Parade for a medical in the hope that he could complete the move before the midday Premiership registration deadline, which he has managed to do.
The move mirrors that of Benito Carbone, who last week had a similar U-turn before signing, and sees the player leave Ewood Park less than two years after signing for £4.25 million from The Tykes.
Richmond, who has already sanctioned the signings of Carbone, David Hopkin, Ian Nolan and Peter Atherton, said: "I've got to say we did always want Ashley and Ashley wanted to join us, so everybody at the club is now very happy.
"This concludes the summer signings. We have achieved everything we set out to do at the start of the summer.
"We feel we've a squad of players which is significantly stronger than the one which began our first Premiership campaign 12 months ago."
