RANGERS COMPLETE DE BOER SIGNING

RANGERS have completed the signing of Barcelona midfielder Ronald de Boer and only formalities with la Liga officials stand between him joining the Scottish champions before Thursday`s Champions League deadline.

The 30-year-old Dutch international agreed a four-year contract with The Gers and passed a medical at Ibrox on Wednesday afternoon.

"It's now only a matter of the Spanish League processing the necessary paperwork in time for the Champions League deadline," de Boer said. "To all intents and purposes I am now a Rangers player.

"There are some rumours that my move has stalled. Nothing could be further from the truth. I was at Ibrox today and was even photographed in the Rangers shirt.

"I am very happy with the deal I have been offered and so are both clubs."

De Boer`s future at Camp Nou became untenable after new Barca coach Llorenc Serra Ferrer left him out of a friendly against Panathanaikos last week and though Manchester United were linked with the former Ajax man he has agreed to join the Scottish champions.

This signing, which The Gers hope to back-up with the signing of John Hartson on Thursday, is a massive boost to Dick Advocaat`s squad ahead of the start of the Champions League group stages where the Glasgow giants will line-up against Monaco, Galatasaray and Sturm Graz.

Advocaat`s new acquisition will not be able to link-up with his new team-mates until after this weekend as he is travelling back to Amsterdam to join the Holland squad for the World Cup qualifying game against the Republic of Ireland.
