NO LUA-LUA BIDS MADE - WHITTON

COLCHESTER UNITED manager Steve Whitton has denied that the club are set to sell highly-rated striker Lomano Tresor Lua Lua, following reports linking the youngster with Newcastle and Tottenham.

The 19-year-old has been watched by Newcastle manager Bobby Robson, and has also previously attracted interest form Spurs and Norwich.

Speculation had suggested that Spurs would also renew their interest in him, but Whitton admitted: "Contrary to all the rumours, I have heard nothing from any club.

"The only enquiries I have received to date came from Newcastle and Tottenham last season, I have heard nothing since then.

"Any player who plays the way Lomano does is always going to attract attention. He excites everyone, but all the talk of him moving is hypothetical at the moment.

"I know the boy is likely to be snapped up one day, but no-one knows when and, until that day, Lomano is very much a Colchester United player. I would love to keep him until the end of his contract if I can."
