BRAMBLE A PRICKLY PROPOSITION
Unlike the goalscorer of the Gunners' 85th minute equaliser at Portman Road Dennis Bergkamp, or the man who set the goal up - Thierry Henry who had his shot blocked - Town's newfound star is playing for his local team.
Despite being just 19 years of age, Bramble has been thrust into the first team alongside the experienced Mark Venus and Hermann Hreidarsson at the back.
On Saturday, the young star helped curb Henry to just three efforts on goal all match (compared to the 10 the French international registered against Shakhtar Donetsk) and limited Arsenal to only three on target in total.
After the match, Henry said of the Ipswich stopper: "I am used to playing with Marcel Desailly and at Monaco I used to train with Martin Djetou. Bramble is similar. He is strong and will have a very good career."
High praise indeed for the teenager, who is currently the Premiership's top tackler. Bramble has won 30 of the 39 challenges for which he has competed - that's 18 more than the player Henry compared him to, Desailly.
Both players have made an almost identical amount of defensive clearances and, likewise, cannot be separated in terms of accurate distribution across the back. In the defensive third of the pitch, both find a team-mate with almost 90% of their passes.
In addition, the Blues' stopper adds a surprise attacking element to the Ipswich game, and one such marauding run up field earned Bramble his first ever goal for Town when he broke through and finished impressively against Sunderland.
Surely it will not be too long before international strikers are attempting to negotiate their way past Bramble and alongside the likes of Rio Ferdinand and Jonathon Woodgate, the Ipswich defender looks to have a very bright international future ahead of him.
