DYER DOUBTFUL FOR ENGLAND

NEWCASTLE UNITED midfielder Kieron Dyer is rated as doubtful for England's World Cup qualifiers with Germany and Finland after twisting his knee in the 1-0 win over Manchester City on Saturday.

The former Ipswich Town man was substituted during the second half at Maine Road and immediately treated for the injury, but Magpies boss Bobby Robson has revealed that he may not be able to join up with the rest of manager Kevin Keegan's squad this week.

"There may be some doubt about him," said Robson. "We'll try to make an early decision. He's got a bit of a twisted knee and he's been wrapped up in ice."

He does, though, appear to be the only injury worry apart from Emile Heskey for Keegan ahead of the games.

England play Germany in the final game at Wembley on Saturday, and then travel to Helsinki to face Finland the following Wednesday.
