TIGERS HANDED TEMPORARY LIFELINE

HULL CITY have been granted a temporary reprieve in their second bid to avoid a winding-up order, after a court hearing granted the club an extra 28 days to try and clear their debts.

The Tigers escaped closure in January of this year, when the Inland Revenue took the club to court over an alleged £25,000 tax debt, and they are now attempting to fend off a petition by Customs and Excise.

This latest action against Hull had been due to return to court on November 8th, but this date has now been moved back to allow the club to come up with a solution to their financial worries.

Meanwhile, midfielder Gary Brabin has been assured that he is still a part of manager Brian Little's first team plans, despite being left out for of the side for the last four matches.

Brabin was brought to Hull on a free transfer by former manager Warren Joyce in January of last year, and was a first team regular under the previous boss.

However, after Little chose to leave the powerful midfielder on the sidelines recently, speculation was rife that the player was about to leave Boothferry Park, with local rivals Scunthorpe amongst those being linked with a move for the 29-year-old.

But Little has now denied that The Iron have contacted him about Brabin, and stressed that the former Blackpool player still has the chance to secure a place in the first team, if he impresses for the reserves.

"We've a few players at the moment who are trying to get into our side and Brabs is no different to any of them," said Little.

"He's training hard but he needs to play games and impress in those games. If he does well in the reserves, then obviously there's a chance for him.

"The positive thing is his attitude, and his commitment in training is spot-on. Brabs knows what the situation is and he knows he has to roll up his sleeves and battle for his place."

Elsewhere, Cardiff City have asked The Tigers for permission to play trialist Jason Harris in a reserve team game, as the striker's two-week trial period at Ninian Park comes to an end.

It is still not known if the Welsh club are to make a move to take Harris to the club permanently, and the player had initially been banned from playing in a recognised fixture.
