WEAH SIGNS FOR MARSEILLE

GEORGE WEAH has completed his move to Marseille just 72 hours after he left Manchester City.

The 34-year-old Liberian has put pen to paper on a eight month deal at the Stade Velodrome, and could make his debut for L'OM against Lille on Sunday.

The former World Footballer of the Year, left Maine Road on Monday after scoring just once in the Premiership during his two month stay.

"I am very proud to carry the colours of Marseille," said Weah. "I have not come here for the money, but to help the club.

"I know the French Championship well, as I have played in Monaco and the Paris Saint Germain.

"When I was in Monaco, I twice failed to sign for Marseille, and now I have signed, and so it is destiny.

"I will do everything for the supporters, when people rely on you, you should be prove that they were right to believe in you "

"I have spoke with the trainer Abel Braga, he is somebody of sympathetic nature and is very nice. As it was the first contact, it encouraged me to come here, it is a large mark of respect.

"I know some of my new team-mates, I was very close Bruno N'Gotty in Milan, and we even ate together yesterday evening. I also know Jerome Leroy who was at Paris Saint-Germain, I know Ibrahim Bakayoko and Patrick Blondeau, our captain, as well, because we once played at Monaco together.

"The supporters await me and they rely on me and they know my qualities. I will do my upmost to thank them."
