BRADFORD 0 IPSWICH 2

BRADFORD shot themselves in the foot for the second successive home match as they lost to an own goal against Ipswich.

In their last Premiership clash at Valley Parade, the only goal of the game came as Gunnar Halle put through his own net. This time, it was Dan Petrescu's turn.

On 34 minutes, the Romanian international slid in at the near post in an attempt to cut out Jamie Clapham's low cross, but only managed to deflect the ball past helpless goalkeeper Matt Clarke and into his own net off the right-hand upright.

In the middle of a dismal run without a win in seven games and with just two goals in that time the last thing that Chris Hutchings' men need is to give away points.

While Ipswich seem to be adapting to Premiership life like a duck to water now unbeaten in five - Bradford continue to look like an Equatorial Guinean in water.

They were under pressure for much of the match, yet managed to carve out the better opportunities in the match with Ashley Ward missing a wonderful chance. Running onto a long ball by Ian Nolan, the striker chose to take his shot early, but Richard Wright saved low to his left.

Bradford looked far stronger in the second half and Wright had to be at his acrobatic best to push assistant manager Stuart McCall's shot over the bar.

The introduction of Dean Saunders boosted the home side in the 75th minute his first appearance for two months after recovering from an ankle injury, yet he could not inspire his side to grab a point.

Matt Clarke produced a marvelous save to keep out a David Johnson effort four minutes from time, but could do nothing about Clapham's magnificent curling free-kick at the death as Ipswich's fine run continued.
