SCHALKE LINKED WITH £10 MILLION HESSELINK BID

FC SCHALKE have been linked with a £10 million bid for FC Twente striker Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink.

The 21-year-old Dutch international is one of the hottest young prospects in the KPN Eredivisie, and Schalke are looking to replace Emile Mpenza, who is looking to leave Germany.

Vennegoor has started the season brightly by scoring 5 goals in ten games, but he looks destined to leave Enschede.

Glasgow Rangers, Feyenoord and PSV Eindhoven are all believed to be interested, but the reported bid from the German side is likely to be the largest offered.

Twente do not want to lose their prize-asset, but the offer would be far to tempting to turn down for the Dutch club.

Mpenza meanwhile, appears to be far from settled in Germany following his move from Standard Liege, despite the fact he has scored 6 goals 9 games for the team who are currently third in the Bundesliga.

The news of the young Belgian international`s unrest is sure to alert Aston Villa and Rangers, who are both in desperate need of a striker.
