MENDONCA GIVEN ALL-CLEAR

CHARLTON striker Clive Mendonca has been given the all-clear to return to training after almost a year out by a German specialist.

The 32-year-old has been out of action with a persistent groin and back injury since last December, but now looks set to return to first team action.

Mendonca has had a torrid time with injuries and after being their main attacker, had to sit and watch as they again won promotion to the Premier League by winning the First Division.

He has now set his mind on helping the Addicks stay in the top flight and manager Alan Curbishley is keen on pairing him with Finnish striker Jonatan Johansson, who has emulated Mandonca's past form at the Valley by scoring seven goals in just nine games.
